4A OBITUARIES NEWS JOURNAL Wednesday, April 23, 2008 Helen Marie Gillig LUCAS Helen Marie Gillig, 99, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Mansfield Hospital. Helen was born May 27, 1908, in Fremont, Ohio, to Joseph A. Young and Julianna House Young. Helen married John Delbert Gillig in 1929, and before World War II, they traveled around the world while he served in the military. She was a vivacious and fun-loving young woman.

Helen was employed for several years at Kafer's Florist in Mansfield. She loved her farm and gardens in Lucas, bringing much of her harvest to seniors at The Senior Center in Mansfield. Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary (Louis) DiGregoria of Stevensville, Michigan; a a a a a a a a son, Mark Gillig Lucas; grandchildren, Diane Deckert, Carol Dalton, Danny DiGregoria and Patty Gillig; great-grandchildren, Leslie Goertz, Mark Deckert, Ashley DiGregoria; and a greatgreat-grandson, Spencer Goertz. Her parents and nine brothers and sisters preceded her in death. At Helen's request, there will be no services Funeral Directers or calling.
