Obituaries 2S Mrs. Florence Leary Florence M. Leary, 83, Mansfield, RD 3, died Friday evening in People's Hospital following a long illness. She was born March 27, 1896, in Mansfield and lived here most of her life. Mrs.

Leary was a retired Westinghouse employee and a member of the First Church of God. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Wayne (Edna) Hall and Mrs. Harold (Madalyn) Milligan, both of Mansfield, and several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.

Monday at the First Church of God, 1756 Park Avenue West, by her pastor, the Rev. Larry Collins. Calling hours at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God.

Brown, 60, of 312 East Second St. died Friday evening in Cleveland Clinic following a long illness. Born Aug. 16, 1918, in Brighton, she had lived in Mansfield since 1957. Mrs.

Brown was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Surviving is a son, Willie Parr Jr. of Marion; two grandsons; four sisters, Mrs. Luella Richardson and Mrs.

Virginia Russell, both of Drummonds, and Mrs. Fannie Calhoun and Mrs. Mary McKinney, both of Memphis, and a brother, Edgar Herring of South Bend, Ind. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mt.

Hermon Baptist Church by the Rev. Joel L. King. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be after 2 p.m.

Monday at the David Gary Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wilbert Butterfield GALION Wilbert Butterfield, 80, of 135 West Atwood St. died Friday at Galion Community Hospital. He was born in Shawnee, Ohio, July 5, 1898; operated a shoe repair shop on Harding Way East, retiring in 1963; and was a World War I veteran. Mr.

Butterfield was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Barracks 1 World War I veterans, and a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 414. He also belonged to Galion Chapter Bucyrus Council 83, Mansfield Commandery 21, Mason Valley of Columbus and Naomi Chapter 47 Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Broughton Strouse Butterfield; one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Arlene) Moore of Galion; two grandchildren; three brothers; and a sister. Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m.

Zickefoose of Jeromesville and a former music teacher in Mansfield city schools, will be featured with Deborah Truxal in a recital for two sopranos in the concluding program of the Epiphany Artists Series in New York City next Sunday. Held at the Church of the Epiphany, the recital will include solos and arias by Cilea, Thomas, Wolf, Kramer, Debussy and Duke. Featured will be "Ah guarda sorella," the well-known soprano duet from "Cosi fan Tutte" by Mozart, as well as other duets by I Mendelssohn and Britten. Mrs.

Lovett, a graduate of Ashland College, has appeared in opera, oratorios and concert in many parts of the U.S. She has appeared with the Little Orchestra Society and the American Symphony Orchestra in New York City. For the past several years she has been a soprano soloist with the Church of the Epiphany. Man files suit against soup company A $455,478 suit has been filed in Richland County Common Pleas Court by a man who claims to have become violently ill after opening a can of Campbell's soup and discovered dead bug larvae. Cairns of 1112 Bellaire Dr. filed the suit against the Campbell Soup Prophet Food Co. distributors of Cleveland and the General Motors plant in Ontario. Cairns claims he purchased the can in a vending area at the plant. The discovery of the larvae made the plaintiff violently ill, the suit claims, and aggravated a high blood sugar level causing diabetes.

Mrs. Anna Hout Anna Tennant Hout, 75, of 1356 Hillcrest Dr. died Saturday afternoon in Mansfield General Hospital following a short illness. Born Oct. 28, 1903, in Richwood, Ohio, she had lived here for the past 30 years.

Mrs. Hout was a member of the Lexington Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband, W. Marion Hout; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mary McGuire of Lakeside, two stepsons, Edwin Cole of Houston, Texas, and Don Cole of Ashland.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Finefrock Funeral Home by the Rev. H.L. Stallings, former pastor of the Lexington Baptist Church. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery.

Born March 17, 1897, in Bladen, Ohio, she lived in Mansfield for the past 56 years. Mrs. Young retired from teaching in 1960, was an Ohio University graduate and belonged to the First United Methodist Church, the Retired Teachers Association and the Echo Lodge Club. Suviving are her husband, Paul a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mary Margaret) Mumford of Elyria; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert A. Baker. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery, Nevada, Ohio.

She was active in the PTA and founded the East Side Garden Club in 1945. Mrs. Hosler was a charter member of the North Central Ohio National Association of Credit Men and was office manager, credit manager and secretary-treasurer of the former Ohio Overcoat Co. for 23 years. Surviving are her husband, Henry Jay Hosler; two sons, Ralph A.

Sunday, June 3, 1979 News Journal, Mansfield, 0. 5-C 2 inmates die in escape try BRIDGETON, Cumberland County Jail inmates were killed and an inmate and a correction officer were wounded when police sharpshooters ended an escape attempt involving six inmates Saturday. The gunfire capped a two-hour ordeal that began when six inmates took several guards hostage, Cumberland County prosecutor William Doherty said. The dead inmates were identified as Tommie E. Jones, 30, of Irvington, and Louis Rosario, 24, of Bridgeton.

A several guards hostage and demanded three cars. Almost two hours later, Jones appeared outside the prison holding a sharp metal object against an unidentified guard who was bound. A police sharpshooter shot Jones from across the street, killing him instantly, Doherty said. Hearing the shooting outside, another unidentified inmate holding Argenzio hostage tried to drag the guard further back inside the jail.

A correction officer attempted to fire at the inmate and apparently hit Argenzio in the leg instead. Doherty said Rosario was killed inside the prison when he attacked a correction officer. Officials said windows and pipes had been broken throughout the jail during the escape attempt. A guard identified as Anthony Argenzio of Vineland and an unidentified inmate were taken to Bridgeton Hospital for treatment. Both were listed in good condition.
