i Records Police calls Sheriff's deputies reported that a pair of skis, valued at $300 and owned by Michelle James of 317 Fairlawn Mansfield, were stolen sometime between 11 p.m. Thursday and half past noon Friday. Lakeview Motel, Mansfield A $100 portable black-and-white TV was stolen from the 3152 Park Avenue East Road motel during a burglary that occurred sometime Thursday or Friday. Harruff, 48, of 1579 Plum Place was wounded at 8:48 p.m. Saturday when a gun accidentally discharged during a card party, sheriff's deputies said. Deputies were still investigating the accident Saturday and did not disclose where Harruff was shot. He was being treated at the emergency room of Mansfield General Hospital. Sgt.

Jim Dalton said Harruff was playing cards at the party when an automatic weapon which was being shown around discharged, apparently accidentally. Deputies did not disclose the identities of either the host or of the person who was handling the gun when it fired. Snow Trails Ski Lodge, Mansfield Chappel Street, Savannah A bit of smooth police work enabled Ashland County sheriff's detective Roger Martin to recover a stolen tractortrailer rig and its cargo of peanut butter. A department spokesman said Martin acted on a tip regarding the trailer which had been reported stolen in Florida on Dec. 28.

The trailer, along with the 44,000 pounds of Skippy peanut butter, was towed to Abers Towing Service in Ashland. Traffic calls In front of 533 Park Avenue West, Mansfield Lisa Linn White, 19, of 708 McPherson Mansfield, was treated at Mansfield General Hospital after a two-car accident Friday at 10:28 p.m. Police reported that White was driving east when a westbound car driven by Stanley J. Brooks, 34, of 201 W. Sixth Mansfield, reportedly went over the center line to turn into a driveway and struck her car.

Brooks was cited for driving left of center and driving while intoxicated. In front of 214 N. Main Mansfield Larry R. Carroll, 31, of 501 W. Fourth Mansfield, was treated at Mansfield General Hospital early Saturday after he struck a parked car and reportedly fled the scene.

Police said Carroll was driving south about 12:05 a.m. when he hit the parked car Obituaries Albert ASHLAND Albert Heffelfinger F. Heffelf- Hazel M. Sloan MANSFIELD Hazel M. Sloan, 81, formerly of Westview Boulevard, died early Friday in Winchester Nursing Home after a long illness.

Born March 16, 1904, in Mansfield, she had lived here all her life. Mrs. Sloan was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving are a brother, Robert Finical of Mansfield; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and a daughter, Dorothy M.

Heichel. Graveside services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Mansfield Memorial Park by her pastor, the Rev. Wray C. Smith.

Hope Lutheran Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 291, Shelby; and Shelby Owls Club. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Seventh Armored Division. Captured during the Battle of the Bulge, he was a prisoner of war for six months and later was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He is survived by a brother, Ross of Shiloh. Adelaide R.

Jones JOHNSVILLE Adelaide Ruth Jones, 81, of 8027 Morrow County Road 83, Bellville, RD 2, died Friday evening in her home. She was born May 4, 1904, in Maidsville, W.Va., where she lived until moving to Mansfield 30 years ago. Mrs. Jones had lived near Johnsville for the past 10 years. A homemaker, she was a member of the Salvation Army in Mansfield.

Surviving are two sons, Chester of Mansfield and David of Johnsville; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Naomi) Franks of Jeromesville; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Addison of Mansfield; and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Elva) Lyons of Mansfield. Her husband, Harvey and a daughter, Carolyn Taylor, both died in 1983. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.

(Photo by Paul Uttermohlen) Chimney could be culprit in fatal Bistline Road fire SHELBY Investigators probing the cause of a fire Thursday which killed 69-year-old Geneva Wallace have focused on a 45-year-old chimney, Fire Marshal James Houser said Saturday. Houser said the chimney was at least a "major contributing cause" if not "the cause" for the Thursday night fire at Mrs. Wallace's Bistline Road home. He said the fire was clearly accidental. Investigators have not ruled out the makeshift wood-burning stove which Mrs.

Wallace used to heat her home. But Houser said the chimney which was as old as the house was faulty and had not been maintained. The two-story house was engulfed in flames when Shelby firefighters arrived shortly after receiving a 10:30 p.m. call from Mrs. Wallace's neighbors.

Surviving is his wife, Grace Harry Heffelfinger, whom he married April 7, 1946.

Strine lived in Ashland County all his life. Before his retirement, he was self-employed in the egg and poultry business and was formerly with F.E. Fisher and Company. He was a member of the Synagogue Church of God. Surviving are two sons, Mervin of Massillon, Ohio, and Dean of Ashland; three daughters, Anna Bell Paullin of Loudonville, Madeline Cole of Ashland and Mildred Bigelow of Big Timber, 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
