Melcher, 79, of 932 Harris Ave. died unexpectedly Friday afternoon in his home. Born March 29, 1909, in Bucyrus where he lived all his life, Mr. Me retired in 1972 from the Ohio Locomotive Crane Co.

and was a member of First Baptist Church. Two cousins survive. Calling hours will be Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. in Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home and conducted by the Rev.

Kenneth Damon. Burial will be in Oak wood Cemetery. Virgil L. Scott MANSFIELD Services for Virgil L. Scott, 82, of 448 Howard who died Friday, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m.

at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors by the Rev. Carl Cunfer. Calling hours are today from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Scott was born Sept. 11, 1905, in Erie, and had lived in Mansfield the past 45 years. He was employed as a truck driver and dock worker at Dixie, Ohio.

He was also a member of the Owls Club. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Eichof Scott; a stepdaughter, Mary Bishop of Mansfield; a stepson, and Don Perman of Mansfield. Rensch, 76, of 1964 Ohio 598 died Saturday at 2 a.m. in Oakwood Manor, Bucyrus. Born May 14, 1911, in Shelby, to the late Ruth Hannafus Jackson Woo ley and Thomas Jackson, she was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Mrs. Rensch was employed for 22 years at the former ITT North Electric retiring in 1976.

She was first married to Richard Laser, who died in 1963. She then married Waide Rensch on April 8, 1965, and he survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Willis (Nancy) Trimble of San Jose, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Leo (Phyllis) Myers of Galion; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Luella Echelberry of Shelby.

Mrs. Rensch was preceded in death by a half brother. Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at by the Rev.

Paul D. Young. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Anna Kareff MANSFIELD Anna Schacherer Kareff, 79, of 1540 Chew Road died early Saturday after a long illness. Born Oct.

12, 1908, in Richardton, N.D., she moved to Mansfield in 1916. Mrs. Kareff was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the American Legion, McVey Post 16 Women's Auxiliary. Surviving are a son, Howard J.

of Mansfield; three daughters, Nancy Gimbel, Mrs. Victor (Carol) Vollmer and Mrs. Perry (Linda) Si Ivey, all of Mansfield; two brothers, Herman and Richard Schacherer, both of Mansfield; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Eleanor) Chronister of Yucca Valley, and Mrs. Richard (Frieda) Tea le of Mansfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kareff was preceded in death by her husband, Nedan; two brothers; a sister; and a great-granddaughter. Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Finefrock Funeral Home where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m.

died Saturday morning at the Americare-Marion Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Marion, after a four-month illness. Liberty St. died Friday afternoon in Brethren Care Nursing Home. Born Nov. 11, 1898, in Lawrenceburg, to Samuel and Jenny (Prentice) Brannon, she had lived in Ashland County most of her life. Mrs.

Cothren was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bertha Scantlebury Sunday School Class and World War I Auxiliary Barracks 355 of Ashland and a former member of Ashland County Senior Citizens. Surviving are two sons, Clifford M. of Haworth, N.J., and Richard L. of Mt. Vernon; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was married in December 1917, to Clifford Cothren, who died in 1959. A daughter, Dorothy Jean Sigafoos, died in April 1978. Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 p.m. and one hour before services Monday at 1:30 p.m. at DenbowPrimm Funeral Home by the Rev.

Kenneth Bibbee. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. Born April 30, 1910, in Cardington to Garnet H. and Ivah (Crist) Benedict, Mrs. Russell had lived all her life in Cardington and was a retired bookkeeper.

She attended the Methodist Church and was a member of Mildred Chapter 85, Order of Eastern Star; American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 97; Daughters of Union Veterans, Tent 50; and Morrow County Senior Citizens. She also served on the board of the Morrow County Cancer Society. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Silver) Snell of Frederick-town, and Mrs. Larry (Penny) Gale of Ashley; a son, Malcolm of Kuttawa, four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs.

Russell (Alberta) Hi Ilyard of Kuttawa, Mrs. Raymond (Glenna Bell) Wick-berg of Oviedo, and Lucinda Russell of Cardington; five brothers, Basil C. Benedict of Sebastian, Ernest E. Benedict of Largo, Garnet Orlando Benedict and Walter Paul Benedict, both of Portage, John M. Benedict of Hobart, and her close friend, Lloyd Jones of in Rushmore, a son, Kenneth R.

of Liberty, a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Sharron) Dresp of San Luis Obispo, eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Carlton (Arretta) Richardson of Mt. Gilead; two brothers, Harold E. Phillips of Charleston, W.Va., and A.

Raught Phillips Jr. of Modesto, Calif. Three brothers and one sister are deceased. Sheldon Reitz BUCYRUS Sheldon "Bill" Reitz, 66, of 904 Rogers St. died Saturday morning in Doctor's Hospital North, Columbus, after a short illness.

Born Nov. 28, 1921, in Seneca County, he had lived in Bucyrus for the past 25 years. Mr. Reitz retired in 1985 after being a truck driver for 43 years. He was an Army veteran of World War and a member of Bucyrus VFW Post 1078; Colonel Crawford Post 151, American Legion; and Bucyrus Moose Lodge 169.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Ball Reitz; two daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Deborah) Wells of Beaver, and Mrs. Mark (Traci) Makeever of Kettering; five grandchildren; and a brother, Eldon Reitz of Republic. Calling hours will be after noon Monday at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and the Moose Lodge memorial service will be conducted at 6:45 p.m.

Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. E. Parker West. Burial will be in Fireside Cemetery, Bellevue.

Marjorie Lively CARDINGTON Marjorie Lively, 69, of 548 S. Marion St. died Saturday morning in Morrow County Hospital, Mt. Gilead, after a six-month illness. Born Sept.

16, 1918, in Spring Hill, W.Va., to A. Raught and Elizabeth Ann (Schoultz) Lively lived in Cardington the past seven years, moving from Dayton, Ky. A retired bookkeeper, she was a member of the Southern Baptist Church and Eastern Star of Hurricane, W.Va., and was a Rainbow Girl adviser in West Virginia. Surviving are her husband, Robert whom she married April 17, 1937, Services will be held Thursday in Dobbling Funeral Home in Bellevue, Ky. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Covington, Ky.

Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington is in charge of local arrangements. LEXINGTON Services for Albert Glen Naus, 76, of 278 W. Main who died Friday, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home by the Rev. Cloyd Kress.

Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home where the Bellville Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 8:30 p.m. Born July 24, 1911, in Galion to the late Glen and Cora (Triesch) Naus, he lived most of his life on the family farm between Lexington and Bellville. Mr.

Naus retired as shop superintendent in 1976 after 32 years of service with Mansfield Structural Erecting Co. He was a member of Be Lodge 376, and Valley of Canton, Scottish Rite, and attended Lexington Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Bernice Danner Naus, whom he married Nov. 10, 1928; a son, Albert Jr. of Lexington; a daughter, Mrs.
