Burton, 75, formerly of 328, Westgate Drive, died Monday night at the Village Care Center, She was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Soldier, to Samuel and Mayme Conley Hamm and lived in the Galion area since 1962, coming there from Morehead, Ky. She had been a teacher for 10 years at the former North Elementary School in Crestline.

Survivors Include a daughter and son-in-law, H.L. "Sonny" and Margaret Barker of Crestline; two granddaughters, Michelle Barker of Columbus and Marianna Holtel of Nelsonville; a great-grandson, James Holtel of Nelsonville; a brother, William Hamm of Hook, and a sister, Louise Marshal of Covington, Ky. She was preceded in death by a sister. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery by the Rev.

William Horning. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home. Leona May Bryant Rowe MANSFIELD Leona May Rowe, 83, mother of Mary Thierlein of Mansfield, died Sunday at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland after a long illness. Mrs. Rowe was born Dec.

28, 1909, in Adair County, to Alec and Ida Mae Blair Bryant She was a housewife in Cleveland, where she lived most of her life. Surviving are two other daughters, Sylvia Ann Poff of Oregon and Rosemary DeGennaro of Parma; a son, John Julius Jr. of Brook Park, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Olas Bryant; and four sisters, Irene Mills, Ruth Nyiri, Betty Danforthand Jean. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor; a son, Robert; and two brothers, James and Delsi. Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Green, 87, of Shelby died Sunday night in Chambrel Nursing Facility in Akron after a brief illness. Mr. Green was born April 21, 1905, in Shelby to Thomas J. and Blanche Skiles Green, both now deceased. He was a Shelby resident most of his life.

He graduated in 1923 from Shelby High School, where he was the captain of the football team his senior year. He attended Amherst College and Harvard Law School, graduating in 1931 after a year's residence in Paris, France, as a teacher and coach in the American High School there. He began his law career with the Cleveland firm of Thompson, Hine and Flory, where he worked five years before coming to Shelby in 1937. During the next 50 years he was a partner with local attorneys Frank C. Long, James A Anderson, Charles tteisan and Frank E.

Long until his retirement in December 1988. He was a director for many years of the former Ohio Seamless Tube the Autocall Co. and the Shelby Metal Products Co. He was a member of the Richland County, Ohio State and American bar associations and was appointed in 1958 by the Ohio Supreme Court to be a member of the Ohio Board of Bar Examiners. He was selected chairman of that body in his final year in 1963.

He also served on the board of managers of the National Conference of Bar Examiners, of which he was named chairman in 1965-66. Mr. Green served as Shelby Law Director for many years and served on the board of trustees of Shelby Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years. He was active in the Johnny Appleseed Area Council of Boy Scouts and the United Fund in Shelby. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Shelby Country Club, the Shelby Owls Club, the Shelby Ad Club, the Shelby Masonic Lodge 350 where he The Rev.

Raymond Lamont Butler MANSFIELD The Rev. Raymond Lamont Butler, 64, of 501 W. Hanley Road died Monday morning in the emergency room of Mansfield General Hospital after a heart attack. He was born May 18, 1928, in Youngstown and graduated from Poland High School in 1947. The Rev.

Butler earned his bachelor of arts degree in 1951 from Asbury College and in 1957 finished work on his bachelor of divinity degree from Capital University. He pastored first at the Market Street Methodist Church in Galion, later renamed St. Mark's Methodist Church, from 1951-59, also serving at that time the Sixteen Methodist Church near Martel. He later held pastorates at Cadiz Methodist Church from 1959-66, the Barberton Lakeview Methodist Church from 1966-71 and the Coshocton United Methodist Church from 1971-73. He came to Mansfield in 1973 to accept the pastorate of Central United Methodist Church, where he served until 1987.

He was chaplain for the Mansfield Police Department, Mansfield Fire Department, Richland County Sheriffs Department, the Washington, Mifflin and Madison township fire departments, LifeCare Medical Services and Mansfield Ambulance. He was director of the Hopeline program located at The Center for Individual and Family Services in Mansfield, and chairman of the board of Crossroads halfway house. A Richland County sheriffs department special deputy, he created the "Sound of Siren-Call to Prayer" program and the "Shield-a-Badge" program for the Mansfield Police Department He was the first project director for the Richland County Safety Task Force seat belt program from 1988-69, and a part of the Mansfield General Hospital disaster team. He currently served as hospital chaplain at Richland Hospital in Mansfield, where he directed the Lifegate program. He was a member of the United Methodist Church Ohio East Conference, serving on committees at the district and conference level, and was attending the United Methodist Church of the Cross in Lexington.

Municipal court, Charges, persons charged and dispositions In Municipal Court were: ROBERT T.GREEN recently received his 65-year member pin, and Royal Arch Masons, Chapter 178. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy T. Green of Akron; three sons, R. Thomas Green Jr. of Hudson, James J.

"Skip" Green of Raleigh, N.C., and Jeffrey S. Green of Shelby; a daughter, Judith E. Decker of Anderson, 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Judd Green, in 1958; his second wife, Ann Henkel Green, in 1975; a brother, Fred Green; and two sisters, Evelyn Heitzman and Winifred Green. Calling hours are tonight from 7 to 9 at the Barkdull Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church by his pastor, the Rev. James L. Smith. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice and left in care of the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Peggy J. Brown Butler, whom he married Aug. 28, 1951; a son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Carol Butler of Nashville, three daughters and sons-in-law, Becky Lynn and James Bauschlinger of Barberton, Cheryl Jean and Robert Stouffer of Urbandale, Iowa, and Amy Beth and Timothy O'Brien of Princeton, N.J.; six grandchildren, Michael and Jonathan Bauschlinger, Amanda and Randy Butler, Molly Stouffer and Erin O'Brien; and his mother, Gladys Mae Vinings Butler of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd L.

Mr. Hershner died Sunday evening at Woodside Village Care Center, Mount Gilead, after a six-week illness. He was born Nov. 22, 1900, near Steam Corners to William and Sarah Miller Hershner, and was a lifetime area resident A retired carpenter, Mr. Hershner was most recently associated with John Morley Inc.

Builders. He was a member of North Woodbury Alliance Church. He is survived by a stepson and three stepdaughters-in-law, James A. and Martha Miller of Mansfield, and Annabel Miller and Jeanette Miller, both of Lexington; six stepgrandchildren; 11 step-greatgrandchildren; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Belle Beringer Miller Hershner, in December 1981, and two stepsons, Henry Miller and Wilson Miller.

Schneider Funeral Home. Mr. Cochran died Sunday at Galion Community Hospital. He was born Oct 30, 1924, in Bucyrus to Lehr and Altha Ranson Cochran, both now deceased. He was an electrical construction worker and retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 688 in Mansfield.

A World War II Marine veteran, he was a life member of the Galion VFW and a member of the Galion Moose Club 303. Surviving are his wife, Patricia DeVelbiss Cochran, whom he married June 26, 1984; two sons, Larry A. Cochran of Norwalk and Paul Cochran at home; three stepdaughters, Patti Mullins of Iberia, Linda Lynch of Richmond, and Lori Lynch of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Ronald, Roger, Ray, Randy and Richard Cochran; and two sisters, Rita Cochran and Donna Overholser. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years, Betty Cochran; and two brothers, Ralph and Ricky Cochran. McCIenathan, 59, of Riverside, died Saturday in Riverside from complications of cancer. She was born Sept 5, 1933, in Mansfield and lived in California the past 24 years. She was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Phil D. McCIenathan; a son, Daniel McCIenathan; two daughters, Lome McCIenathan Williams and Kelly McCIenathan Bailey; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Calvary Chapel of Moreno Valley near Riverside. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Melvin W. Jewell ASHLAND Melvin W.

Jewell, 80, of 1272 Township Road 653 died Monday morning in Samaritan Hospital after a short illness. He was born July 29, 1912, in Shreve to Isaac and Ella Wise Jewell, and lived in Ashland since 1943. Mr. Jewell was retired from the former U-Brand Corp. He was a member of the Lake Fork Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel Wolbaugh Jewell; a daughter, Norma Conery of Ashland; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rhea Jewell of Wooster. He was born Dec. 12, 1916, In Dayton to Herman and Edna Critzer Saum. A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Saum was a mechanic and a lifelong resident of Morrow and Richland counties. He is survived by four sons, William L.

"Butch" Saum of Marengo, Mark and Tim Saum, both of Mansfield, and Tom Saum of Crestline; three daughters, Barbara Roberts and Sharyl Hall of Crestline and Diana Herring of Dunedin, 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, James in 1992 and Barney J. in 1967. Friends may call one hour before funeral services, which will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home, Mount Gilead, by the Rev.

David McKinnon. Burial will be in Marengo Cemetery. Gladys Dearnell Lepp MANSFIELD Gladys D. Lepp, 77, of 162 Timmennan Road died in her home Monday after a long illness. She was born May 8, 1915, in Stonecoal, W.Va., to John and Mary Markum Dearnell, and lived in the Mansfield area for 41 years.

Mrs. Lepp was an office secretary at the former Dominion Electric Co. and was a member of Mansfield Baptist Temple. Surviving are her husband, Earl Lepp, whom she married June 23, 1951; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lou Lepp of Johnsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Donald Myers of Hayesville and Debbie and Mark Smith of Cambridge; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Dearnell of Clearwater, and Willard Dearnell of New York, N.Y.; three sisters, Thelma Sammons of Wilmar, Dixie Thompson of Gent, W.Va., and Irene Leadman of Huntington, W.Va. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Dearnell and Walter Dearnell, and two sisters, Mae Fitzpatrick and Jenny Dearnell.

Nielsen was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Franklin County and came to North Fairfield in early childhood. He was a 1943 graduate of North Fairfield High School and served in the Navy in the Pacific area during World War II. He retired as a stationary engineer for Ford Motor Co, Sandusky, after 30 years. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 706 and Norwalk VFW Post 2743.

He was a member of the Firelands Pioneer Power Antique Engine Club, Huron, the Willard Elks and Eagle clubs and was an active member of the North Fairfield Historical Society. He is survived by his wife, Mary Stein Nielsen; a son, Allen Nielsen of North Albany, a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jim Hartley of Powell; five grandchildren; a brother, Maynard Nielsen of Sandusky, his foster mother, Helen Woodruff of Willard; and many nieces and nephews.
