Paul R. Amburgey BUCYRUS Paul R. Amburgey, 57, of 909 Central Findlay, Ohio, died Saturday, Sept.

20, 1997, in University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor, Mich. Calling hours are today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. "That could add staff to our faculty," Harriman said.

He said the requirements also will force the district to look at how it uses space. The Senate bill also requires all fourth-grade students pass a proficiency test before being promoted to the fifth grade. It mandates remedial help for those in danger of failing. In other business, the board approved its fiscal year 1998 appropriations. The general fund is set at just less than $5.7 million, said Treasurer Christina Bennett.

Harraman and Bennett said this figure is higher than last year's, but neither had fiscal year 1997 figures avail able for comparison. Also, the board heard from bus drivers regarding the district's policy regarding diseases. One driver said she recently took a student home whose clothes were soaked in blood as a result of a fight. She was concerned about the possible health of others on the bus. After the meeting the drivers said it appeared the policy allowed teachers to segregate students in that situation, but did not allow bus drivers the same freedom.

Harraman said he would investigate the board's policy and report back. Carving out history IU It 11 w. 1- CRESTLINE Donald Collins, 59, of Rutland, Ohio, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1997, at home. He was bora on August 18, 1938, in Wayland, KY.

Sylvan Learning Center Springfield Square Shopping Center 550 Leingiim-Sinngniill in Ontario By Jim Norris News Journal correspondent OLIVESBURG Crestview School Superintendent Roger Harraman said Monday that a bill in the Ohio Senate could mean the district's staff will have to be increased. The bill requires students have 21 credits to graduate starting with the Class of 2001, up from the current 18. Harraman said during a school board meeting that Crestview already requires 20 credits. But the state is requiring that more of those credits be taken in core subjects rather than in electives. Trustee's moving confuses balloting ASHLAND The resignation of a Milton Township trustee is causing a problem for the Ashland County Board of Elections.

The board might ask the Ohio Secretary of State's office permission to use a special paper ballot in Milton Township in November so voters can choose a new township trustee. Elections Director John Walker said Trustee John New-comb resigned Aug. 27 after selling his farm. He bought land just outside the township, west of Ashland. The trustee's term expires in December 1999.

Ashland County's regular ballot already has been sent to the printer. This means to add the replacement race, the elections board would either pull Milton Township's printed ballots and have them reprinted, or ask the state for permission to use a paper ballot, Walker said. That second option' is more viable, Walker said. The elections director said township officials had not officially notified his office of the resignation as of Monday. As a result, he told one replacement candidate's wife he could not yet accept petitions to place her husband's name on the ballot.

Township Clerk Joan Pit-tenger said papers notifying the elections board were in the mail Monday. Trustees plan to appoint an interim replacement for New-comb after conducting interviews. Up to six candidates expressed interest in the job. Pittenger said with New-comb's resignation, all three trustee seats will be on the ballot because two seats expire at the end of this year.
