Illinois who died Thursday afternoon at home following an extended illness, will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors.

The service for the son of the late Michael and Julia Miller will be conducted by the Apostolic Christian Church, 1332 Middle-Bellville Road, with burial in the Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Mr. Miller was born June 24, 1923, in Mansfield and had lived here all his life. A retired employee of the Tappan he was a member of Tappan's Quarter Century Club and the VFW.

He also was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and served with the 9th Army Air Force during World War II in Europe. Surviving are his wife, Naomi Miller; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Linda) LeMay of St. Petersburg, two brothers, Benjamin and Harry Miller, both of Mansfield; two sisters, Mrs. John (Lydia) Brunn of Mansfield and Mrs.

James (Naomi) FitzGibbon of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. Edith K. Waines SHELBY Edith K. Waines, 82, former resident of 41 Marvin died Wednesday evening at Crestwood Care Center following an extended illness. She was born Jan.

14, 1900, in Vernon Township, Crawford County. She had been a lifelong Shelby resident, and was a member of First Lutheran Church. She is survived by one son, Robert K. Waines Sr. of Shelby; three daughters, Mrs.

George (Marilyn) Richards of Mansfield, Mrs. Marvin (Joanne) Tobin of New Washington, and Mrs. Albert (Shirley) Greenslade of Ontario; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron, in 1973. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m.

today in Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. James L. Lumadue officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Lutheran Church, or fund of the donor's choice, and left at the funeral home. Barkdull Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Alta H. Brown MANSFIELD Alta Herald Brown, 87, of 101 Rambleside Drive, widow of William W. Brown, died early Friday morning following an extended illness. She was born June 27, 1894, in Kentucky and attended the First Alliance Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs.

Benjamin (Catherine) Pahlow, with whom she made her home; two sons, William W. Brown of Huntington, W.Va., and Robert H. Brown of Grand Rapids, seven grandchildren; and seven randchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Kincaid-Mann Mortuary, 1731 Fifth Huntington, W.Va., conducted by the Rev.

Emerson Wood, pastor of Johnson Memorial Methodist Church in West Virginia. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Huntington, W.Va. Friends may call at the KincaidMann Mortuary one hour before services. There will be no calling hours at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, where local arrangements are being handled. Benjamin Monn MANSFIELD Benjamin F.

Monn, 82, 1314 N. Stewart Road, died Friday morning at Mansfield General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born Dec. 31, 1899, in Franklin Township and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a retired farmer and butcher, and was a member of the Shelby Equity Exchange.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Joanne) Smith of Mansfield; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Boyd Monn of Shelby. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors by the Rev. Roger Wells, pastor of the Franklin United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in. Franklin Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Lot Little Grant us the courage, Lord, to admit our errors and help us to try to do a better job.

Thank you for reminding us to forgive any criticism from others. Amen. Rondy services MANSFIELD Services for Mrs. Marguerite Snair Rondy, 68, of Ohio 13 North, wife of Walter H. Rondy, who died in Mansfield General Hospital Friday morning after a short illness, will be held Monday at 11 a.m.

at the Finefrock Funeral Home by the Rev. Keith Grove, pastor of the Church of Christ and Christian Union. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to.9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Starner BUCYRUS Dorothy W. Starner, 72, 404 Gay died Friday morning at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain of heart failure after being seriously ill the last three weeks. She was born Sept. 25, 1909, in Nevada, Ohio.

A homemaker and a lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Bucyrus. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Anna Jane) Gradish of Amherst and Mrs. William (Margaret) Cardwell of Marion; two sons, James Starner and Thomas Starner, both of Bucyrus; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Odessa Adams of Nevada, Ohio.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Wise Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester J. Hay officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Frank L. Thomas MANSFIELD Frank L.

Thomas, 49, Lewis Road, Mansfield, RD 3, died at Galion Community Hospital Friday afternoon following a short illness. Mr. Thomas was born in Ashland County Aug. 27, 1932, and had lived in the area all his life. He was an employee of the Geauga Plastics Co.

in Crestline for 17 years and was a member of the Trimble Road Bible Church, where he was a deacon. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Harry W. Thomas Sr. of Mansfield; six brothers, Harry W.

Carolyn Goad of Corunna, Miss Janet Thomas of Oak Forest, and Mrs. Diane Inscore of Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at the Trimble Road Bible Church Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Clifton Storm, pastor of the church, officiating.

The blaze damaged the kitchen, living room and attic of the home. Occupants of the home got out of the building unhurt, and firefighters report assisting an elderly woman and her dog from an apartment at the back of the house.

542 Clearview Road, Mansfield Firefighters were called to a home owned by Terri Meirs of 509 Glessner Ave. Friday when steam formed by moisture condensing on dark shingles was mistaken for smoke. Shelby Creosote buildup ignited by burning wastepaper caused a chimney fire at the Joe Wechter residence at 54 Harriet Drive at 8:52 p.m. Friday, according to firefighters. No damage was reported.

Traffic calls A YIELD U.S. 42 and McElroy Road, Mansfield Two Mansfield teen-agers suffered minor injuries when their car hit a tracto truck at 9:55 a.m. Friday. Troopers at the Mansfield post of the Highway Patrol report that John Sherfey, 16, of Harlan Road, RD 4, stopped for a traffic signal but then drove into the intersection and his vehicle struck a truck driven by Don Brewer, 49, of 2215 Cotter Road, Mansfield. Sherfey and his passenger, Brian Counts, 15, of 228 Satinwood Drive, were treated and released from Mansfield General Hospital.

Sherfey was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way, troopers said. Kuhn Road, north of Shelby Paul Hollinger, 17, of 1654 Cairns Road, Mansfield, was listed in satisfactory condition at Shelby Memorial Hospital after he lost control of his car and the vehicle skidded off the road, hit a concrete abutment and rolled over in a field just before noon Friday Treated and released from the hospital was John Lawhun, 17, of 4120 Beam Road, Crestline, a passenger in Hollinger's car. The Mansfield post of the Highway Patrol investigated the accident. Interstate 71 south of U.S. 30 A Powhatan, man was cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance by Highway Patrol troopers Friday afternoon after his tractor-trailer rig hit a truck he was traveling behind on the interstate.

Cited was David Carroll, 36, who was treated and released from Mansfield General Hospital following the accident. Troopers listed Robert Sanders, 48, of Ansonia, Ohio, as the driver of the other truck. Police calls 151 Marion Avenue, Mansfield An employee of Dr. Thomas L. Blackstone told police she found signs of an attempted break-in on a door to the medical office Friday morning.

The unsuccessful attempt to pry open the door did not trigger the security alarm, police report.
