NEWS JOURNAL Friday, May 26, 2006 4A OBITUARIES Harold E. 'Buck' Fried Putting on a show a. i Helen Davis FREDERICKTOWN Helen Davis, 84, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at Knox Community Hospital. A lifelong resident of Freder-icktown, she was born on May 11, 1922, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Harry and Lillian Evans Borden. Mrs.

Davis was a member of Fredericktown United Methodist Church. Helen is survived by her three loving daughters, Sharon (Raymond Barr of Minster, Ohio, Sheryl (Dean) McCament of Mount Vernon and Carol Ann (Todd) Jagger of Bellville; six grandchildren, Jeff (Kristina) Barr of Dublin, Matthew Barr of Oxford, Ohio, Mollie (Sergio) Rojas of Fredericktown, Erin (Armando) Garcia of Pickering-ton, Ryan Jagger and Jenna Jagger, both of Columbus; three great-grandchildren, Carissa and Gabriel Garcia and Emilio Rojas McCament; a brother, Kinsey Borden of Mount Vernon; and a sister, Judith Hedrick of Dallas, Texas. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilber Davis (1987) and a brother, Harry Borden Jr. To honor her wishes, a private graveside service will be Friday, June 2, 2006 at Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown, with the Rev. Wesley McCament officiating.

Fried worked on the family farm and was employed with Ohio Seamless Tube retiring in 1992 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Tiro United Methodist Church and AARP. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was their most ardent fan when attending their sporting events. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn McMichael Fried, with whom he recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary; son, Alan Fried of Crestline; two daughters, Darla Smith of Nevada and Penny Schiffer of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Brian and Leslie Smith, Michelle (Roger) Gundrum, Wendy and Michael Schiffer, Dustin and Nicole Fried; four great-grandchildren, Noah Smith, Kaylie Heckert, Leah and Mallary Gundrum; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Brenda Fried of Crestline; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Alice Mae and William Baker and Naomi Armbruster, all of Shelby; his uncle, Herschel Fried of Shelby; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Gary Fried in 1998; and great-grandson, Drake Heckert in 2004; Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday from Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. The Reverend Andrew Angel will officiate with interment in Bucyrus Oakwood Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be provided by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Ian Ryder Phelps NEW WASHINGTON Ian Ryder Phelps, 34, of Tiffin Street, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006. He died unexpectedly at home from natural causes. He was born November 24, 1971, in Shelby, and had lived in New Washington since 1992.

A 1990 graduate of Buckeye Central High School, he was an employee of Precision Technologies in Crestline. Ryder enjoyed golf, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and loved all animals. Everyone's friend, he was the kind of fun-loving person people enjoyed being with. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Vicky (Lash) and Rodney Barre of Shelby; his father and stepmother, Danny "Witter and Karen Phelps of Tiro; sister and brother-in-law, Dani Phelps and Shawn Furr and their daughter Rhylan Furr of Cardingtori; his special friend, Jessica Kipp of New London; his clot Neil Lucius of New Washington; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. Heydinger KENTON Brian P. Heydinger, 44, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at home. Bom Oct. 20, 1961, in Bucyrus, Ohio, he was the son of Daniel and Helena Kreim Heydinger. A 1979 graduate from Seneca East High School, he was the owner and operator of East of Chicago Pizza in Kenton and Marion.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Newman Heydinger, whom he married Sept. 9, 1989, in Willard; sons, Chad (Ashley) Heydinger of Kenton and Curtis Heydinger at home; grandchildren, Cobe and Carter Heydinger; brothers, Randall (Lisa; Heydinger of Arlington, and Jeff (Sue) Heydinger of Kansas City, sisters, Rose Marie Zuber of Columbus and Rebecca Roberts of Hanahan, parents, Daniel and Helena Heydinger of Willard; father-in-law Doyle Newman of Crestline; brother-in-law, Randal (Linda) Newman of Willard; sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Robert) Snipes of Crestline and Shelley Wallace of Kenton.
