Saturday, May 26, 1 990 4-a RegionOhioObituaries National Guard accuses state of overcharging Anton Carl Erndt LEXINGTON Anton Carl Erndt, 67, of 160 Oxford Road died Friday afternoon at Lexington Court Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born Sept. 16, 1922, in Mansfield, he lived in the area all his life. Mr.

Erndt was retired from Hughes-Kea-ton. Surviving are 11 children; three brothers, Robert and Duane Erndt, both of Florida, and Walter Erndt of Mansfield; and two sisters, Jane Young and Emma Schuff, both of Mansfield. Ruth A. Little MANSFIELD Ruth A. Little, 74, of Columbiana sister of Jane Don-bar of Mansfield, died May 24 in Salem City Hospital after a short illness.

Also surviving are three daughters, two sons, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Moore was born Sept. 15, 1908, in Jackson County to Peter Yeager and Elizabeth Carney Moore, now deceased. He came to Mansfield in 1958 from Belpre. He was employed in the service department at Spitzer Motors for 18 years, retiring in 1985.

He also operated several service stations in Mansfield. He was a member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church. Surviving besides his daughter are a son-in-law, Bernard F. Brannon; two sisters, Orpha Prince of Davis-ville, W.Va., and Laura Gunderson of Stoddard, two grandsons, Bernard Michael Brannon with the U.S. Air Force at Homestead Air Force Base, Larry Steven Brannon with the U.S.

Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base at Fort Walton Beach, a granddaughter, Patricia Marie Greiwe of Mansfield; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zola Zile Zickefoose Moore, in 1972; two sisters, and one brother. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Finefrock Funeral Home and at the White Funeral Home, Coolville, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m.

WASHINGTON (AP) The Justice Department accused the state of Ohio in a rare civil suit Friday of overcharging the Army for the use of a National Guard training camp. The $8.4 million lawsuit, filed under the False Claims Act, alleges the Ohio state government overcharged the Army's National Guard Bureau for the costs of labor, utilities and materials at Camp Perry in northwest Ohio.

Under the law, the federal government may seek treble damages in this case $6 million for alleged overcharges. The suit also seeks $2.4 million in penalties for 229 alleged instances of false claims between 1980 and 1987. The False Claims Act is commonly used against private contractors for overbilling the government for goods and services. Its use against a state government is "extremely rare," said Justice Department spokesman Michael Robinson. Mr. Morr was a retired printer, a life member of the Ashland Elks Lodge and a member of United Methodist Church in Cocoa Beach, Disabled American Veterans and Akron Typographical Union.

Surviving are his wife, Beulah Snively Morr; two daughters, Diana Luken of Merritt Island, and Jane Morr of Plymouth, and two grandchildren. John P. Czernewski Jr. MANSFIELD Former Mansfield resident John P. Czernewski Jr.

of Englewood, died May 24 in Englewood. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Undercover agent charged TV's Mel on 'Alice' dies BCI audit turned up discrepancies in five of his reports about drug investigations in Fostoria, Tiffin and Toledo. An affidavit filed in Findlay Municipal Court on March 7 said Paulus had admitted to falsifying three of the reports, including one involving a Fostoria Police Department drug probe. In that incident, Paulus was to give $700 to police for a drug purchase in late January but only gave them $200.

BCI, through Findlay police, obtained a search warrant for Paulus' apartment and confiscated a typewriter, computer equipment, software and records. An internal probe by BCI led to Paulus being fired on March 29. headquarters in London was not returned Friday afternoon. Hancock County Prosecutor Joseph Niemeyer, whose office assisted the BCI in the investigation of Paulus, said none of the allegations against Paulus nvolved past Findlay Police Department or Hancock County Sheriff's Department drug investigations. Paulus, who has lived in Findlay for five years, has aided both local departments in past drug probes.

Niemeyer said the investigation of Paulus is continuing. Paulus could not be reached for comment Friday. His home telephone number is not published. Paulus first came under investigation in early March, when a routine FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) A former special agent for the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation will be arraigned next week on charges that he stole money he was supposed to use to buy drugs in undercover operations. Mark Paulus, 40, of Findlay, has been charged with 23 counts of theft in office.

Paulus was served with the indictment Thursday night by the Hancock County Sheriff's Department. He was not arrested. Paulus will be arraigned on the felony charges Wednesday in Hancock County Common Pleas Court. The indictment was handed up Wednesday after a special Hancock County grand jury heard two days of evidence. The charge is a third-degree felony punishable by up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine on each count.

13, 1898, in Knox County to Joseph and Sara Armstrong. Mrs. Pore was a former employee of Kenyon College in Gambier and was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, Denny Mosher of Mount Vernon; a stepdaughter, Ruth Daniels of Cuyahoga Falls; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl W.

Mosher, her second husband, Carl Pore, and a daughter, Helen Stull. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. James Stuller.

Tayback, who has had a history of heart trouble, including triple bypass surgery in 1983, died in his sleep at 1 a.m., said his agent and friend of 20 years, Fred Amsel. Paramedics took Tayback to Glen-dale Adventist Hospital but there was no chance of reviving him, he said. "He just died in his sleep of a heart attack," said Amsel.

"He was just fine yesterday. He hadn't had any trouble since the heart surgeries. But he was a smoker, in fact, he just told me he quit smoking, again." Although he was best known to TV viewers as the loudmouth Mel Sharpies for nine years, Tayback played supporting roles in numerous motion pictures including "Papillon," "Bul Mother of late rock roll star dies LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) Ella Pauline Holley, mother of late rock n' roll star Buddy Holly, has died at age 87. Services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Holley, who died Sunday at West Texas Hospital in Lubbock after a long illness.

Buddy Holly, who changed the spelling of the family name when he went into the music business, is widely credited with inspiring such groups as the Beatles with such late 1950s hits as "Peggy Sue," "Rave On" and "Maybe Baby."
